Hard things are hard because they are hard

Every trick I ever tried to make the hard thing easier was really a negotiation to do less of it. The hacks, the systems, the perfect morning — most of it was avoidance wearing a lab coat.

The difficulty is not an obstacle between you and the value. The difficulty is the active ingredient. Take it out and whatever is left doesn’t build anything, the way lifting a lighter weight builds less muscle by exactly that much.

It never gets easier. You get stronger. Those are different sentences, and the second one is the only promise I’m willing to make.
